Free Tutorial- Emboss with your Stampin Up Die!

Love love love the "Lift Me Up" Bundle with the Hot air balloons.  Can You see the embossing?  I embossed with the sunburst die!

This was made for a swap.  Here are a few Pictures to show you how to do the embossing with a die:

You will need the Silicone Mat, 6x6 white backing cardboard (from the DSP packages) and 6x6 chipboard packaging (from the glimmer paper or specialty paper packages), the Magnetic plate and 1 cutting plate.  Plus the card stock  you are going to emboss.

Stack your 6x6 pieces and your Silicone mat as shown:

Put them on top of your magnetic plate with the die CUTTING SIDE UP! (no cutting plate yet)

Put just 1 cutting plate on top of the die

Run it through your big shot and your card stock should look like this:

POINTS TO NOTE:
  • This is a lighter, more subtle,  embossing than Embossing folders.
  • Every big shot is different.  I used just one white DSP cardboard. I used 2 at the beginning and it tore my card stock.  You may need to add a 6x6 piece of copy paper, card stock or a 2nd white DSP cardboard depending your Bigshot tension.
  • Stamp your card stock first.

Many Thanks to my demo friend Connie for teaching me how to do this!

Stamps: Lift me Up (Bundle)
Paper: Black, Whisper white
Ink: Black, Sweet sugarplum, Soft Sky
Accessories: Markers, the Sunburst Die and the Up& Away Framelits

Circle Shaker Card: free tutorial

Since Halloween is in 2 days I figured it would be best to show the same Shaker card in a Christmas version!
Here are 3 Options basically made the same way:

this one is my favorite:

The Tutorial shows you how to make this super cute Santa one:

The Basic supplies you will need:
Standard card base in real red 5.5 x 8.5
Whisper White 4 x 5.25
and DSP of your choice 3.75 x5  I used Presents and Pinecones
Window sheet 3.5 x 3.5
Glimmer paper 3.5 x 3.5
Circle framelits
Foam Strips, dimensionals
Sequins and glitter

The circles in this card are cut with the recently retired Circle collection framelits.  You can use the Layering Circles Framelits currently in the Big catalog.  The key is to have 2 fit right inside each other as shown on the picture.

Cut the SMALLER Circle in your DSP as shown

Cut your window sheet to 3.5 x 3.5

Attach it to your DSP with Fast Fuse on the back side

Using the Foam Adhesive strips create a complete circle (no gaps or cracks) around your circle on top of the window sheet as shown.  AND  add some dimensionals to the 4 corners of the DSP (not pictured).

Stamp your sentiment in the center of your whisper white where the cut out is

Make a small pile of sequins, glitter paper punch outs and Dazzling diamonds on top of your sentiment.

I used this plus a spoonful of Dazzling Diamonds:

Cut a Circle frame from Red Glimmer paper using 2 layering circles.

Peel off the adhesive on the foam strips and dimensionals and carefilly line it up over your "Pile" of shaker stuff.

Now you can complete your card

All 3 of these cards are made the same way.

The card on the far right has no frame on the window and retired in color and snowflake sequins as the shaker components.

The card in the middle has some extra DSP and I used the Layering circles in the current catalog.  The frame around the circle is just a little thinner.  and I mixed retired in color sequins with the retired snowflake sequins as the shaker components(no glitter) behind the reindeer.

Here are the Halloween Versions:

Inside were 4 Bat Die Cuts from Halloween Scenes framelits, 6 Pumpkin pie glimmer tiny circles and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Thanks for stopping by  I hope you enjoyed the Tutorial!
